Communication Array

Vidéo développée autour du travail de Daniel Blinkhorn.
Compositeur australien rencontré durant la résidence virtuelle de Benjamin Carat à Montréal.
La première version a été conçue en tandem avec Malte Martin dans le cadre de « musiques en création ».
La deuxième (plus longue) est une suite plus personnelle.

« ‘Communication Array’ seeks to describe the process
behind transmission, reception and interpretation
of video and music as a result of a collaboration
between video artist and composer over the internet.

The work is an abstracted representation of the process
of frequency distribution via cables, radio waves
and digital signal processing.
The process of transmission and reception is heavily reliant
on a distribution network in the form of a series of satellites,
also known as a ‘communication array’.
To this end the somewhat anarchic and frenzied complexity
often associated with noise is fused with more traditional
musical timbres and textures to create the musical component
of the work. »

Au sujet de la vidéo :
The video part is an interpretation of the audio part.
It gives to discover a imaginary territory between material
and immaterial.
